I was wondering if someone could please help me with this problem that I am having. I was working on this file all day and then saved it and turned off my computer. When I turned my computer back on, I got the following message.

Can't open the illustration. The illustration contains an incomplete or garbled object description.
Offending operator "Bg”
Context:
131 627 147 677 153 689 c
159 701 173 719 y
Bb
1 (Unnamed gradient 1) 0 0 90 1 1 0 0 1 0 0 Bg

When I open the file in Illustrator I get the above error message and the it opens the file but many of the layers are missing and when I open the file in Photoshop or in the Adobe Reader it only shows the last layer that I was working on. Is there any way that I can fix this file?

• The exact version of Illustrator you are running. CS
• Your Operating System details. Windows XP Pro
• Amount of free disk space. 12.7GB
• Error Message.

LV,

You may try this:

1. Open a new document,
2. In the Layer palette flyout, choose Paste Remembers Layers,
3. Place the corrupted file.

I was having the same "can't open the illustration" "offending operator" & other memory issues.

This fixed it for me.

I am experiencing the same struggle as above. I have attempted both of the solutions suggested above as well, they have not worked. I am looking for any other possible solutions.

LV, Espie,

Sometimes, a more thorough preference deletion is called for. You may try moving the whole

Adobe Illustrator ***

folder to the Desktop; up to 10, *** = version number, for CS *** = CS Settings, for CS2 *** = CS2 Settings.

The folder is hidden, and there is one for every user.
