Is it possible to create a logo (for example) in Photoshop CS2 and then convert into a vector image in Illustrator CS2?

Operationg system: Windows XP
Software version: Creative Suite 2

Sydney,

It's possible although not necessarily recommended - really better to
create a logo in Illustrator.

A raster version *might* live trace quite well or not - depends upon the
design.

Thank you. I use Photoshop more and am not as familiar with Illustrator. I have some images I've created in Photoshop and want to be able to print them on a large scale so I thought if there is a way to apply vector to my existing images, I won't have to re-do them in Illustrator.

Logos are created in vector programs (like Illustrator), and can then easily be converted to raster formats (Photoshop).

The best thing for you to do is try using Live Trace on your images, then you will understand what kind of problems you will have in trying to go from raster to vector.

Open a new illustrator document. File > Place your raster (photoshop) image. With the artwork still selected, click on the live trace button at the top of the window. You can play with the options to try to get the best results possible, but in the end, you will probably be disappointed.

If you have paths in PS, you can bring them over to Ill and save you tracing time.
