Helias,

How about having someone with Freehand Save As to EPS or Export to PDF format which Illustrator should be able to open for you. No versions of Illustrator will open or Place a version MX file from Freehand.

Hilda,

If you only have one file, can't you find someone who has Freehand to convert the file for you? I could do it for you in Freehand 10, which I believe is MX, isn't it?

If you need that/those files, Helias, you'll have to do the convert. There just is no FH10 format parsing for Illustrator and until at least one or two more upgrades of Illustrator, I doubt you'll see one. In the long run, you'll find you will be the one who has the last chuckle, however. You'll find Illustrator a far better working environment for professional use IMNSHO.

Helias,

The only solution I know then would be to re-install Freehand and either continue to use it or manually convert (no batching in Freehand that I'm aware of) the files when you have time and be sure all new files are done in Illustrator. Certainly there is no conversion to FH11 files within any version of Illustrator and I've not heard of a batch conversion PlugIn or program for any other compatible format, even to downgrade to an acceptable FH version.

If you reinstall Freehand and get Quickeys, you should be able to batch
convert your files...

Aha, so there is a after market plugin for batching in Freehand. Thanks for that information, Poul.

Hello Bob....

This is not a plugin for batching Freehand.... It's for batching
everything, making shortcuts, toolbars, sequences.. a lot of things in
every programme...

That sounds like a VB scripting program, then.
