In Freehand, the way that you put text on paths on a closed circle was
you made a circle path, then you clicked on the text tool, and in the
text menu, you clicked on "Attach to path" and a cursor attached to
the path, centered. Then if you wanted to write something on the
bottom, you just hit enter and the cursor just went to the bottom,
centered and Boom! text on paths on a closed circle. I did this in
freehand: http://theteacherband.com (just the text) a while back. I
have recently formated my machine and when I went to install my
version 5 freehand, I found that there was a ding on the backside of
the disk, and it won't load. I have Adobe CS4 and thinking, that since
Adobe took over macromedia, surely they would have taken the best
parts of Freehand and put them into Illustrator. But NO! I have
searched help and either I don't know what question to ask or. . . I
don't know what, but I can't figure out how to put text on a closed
circle path with text on top and text on bottom, centered. Does anyone
Know?

Form your circle and size it as you wish. Then break the circle into top
and bottom halves (two mirrored arcs). Now you can apply the text to the
top of the top half and to the bottom of the bottom half. This will work
with most vector based graphics software. Do yourself a favor and look
into Coreldraw, superior in every way to things Adobe.
